What if I have no professional writing experience?

That’s ok! One of the days explains how to create writing samples that you can include in your portfolio. We call it “spec work” or “on spec” and it’s totally ok to include.

How much time do I need to commit to this daily?

It’s up to you. I designed the course with one homework exercise per day. It could take you an hour, or you could spend longer if you want to go deep or you have more to learn in a certain area.

What if I’m not a beginner?

If you have previous writing experience, building your portfolio will be easier. The other days provide exercises to help you narrow your niche and learn to write targeted pitch emails. If you’re comfortable pitching and already have a portfolio, this may not be for you.

Do I have to finish in one week?

You can set your own pace! I designed this to be a quick-start course, so you can jump in quickly. When I was learning to freelance, I was unemployed and needed to get started FAST, so that’s why I condensed this into a 7-day email course.

Isn’t freelance writing dead now that we have AI?

Not at all. Are there tasks that AI can do faster (like idea generation and outlines)? Yes. I have content on my site about AI tools. But publications still rely on human writers, and people want to read human articles. Your skills are still needed!
